on who we are and what we do
Spectrum-MRC is a mainstream
motorcycle riding club. Our members are everyday
people with normal jobs just like yours. We ride
various types of motorcycles, from 100cc dirt
bikes to full custom S&S equipped cruisers. The
major distinguishing factor of Spectrum-MRC is
that our members are all GLBT and Friendly motorcyclists.
Outside of the obvious allusion
that Spectrum makes to the gay pride flag, the
club is named Spectrum Motorcycle Club because
we wanted to include everyone in our motorcycling
adventure. We cover the entire spectrum of motorcycles,
and we enjoy riding with the entire spectrum of
motorcyclists. The only requirements for becoming
a Spectrum-MRC member are:
- Acceptance that all motorcyclists
are our brothers and sisters
- Understanding that Spectrum-MRC
members are motorcyclists
In general, our focus centers
around actually RIDING motorcycles. However, motorcycle
ownership is not a requirement for membership.
You should be genuinely interested in riding and
you should appreciate that this is a passion
for most of us.
Spectrum-MRC is not a club
you should join if you simply want to LOOK like
a motorcyclist while you stand around in the bars.
If you're looking for dates or have fetishes you
think we can satisfy, you're also in the wrong
place. Certainly some of our members date and
some have certain "special interests", but these
things occur as a side effect of normal interaction
between our members, not as a part of regular
club activities.
Group
Responsibility
Motorcycling is dangerous
activity and it sometimes becomes more dangerous
when riding as part of a group. By participating
in Spectrum Motorcycle Club events, you agree
that:
A) You understand the
dangers and are willing to accept personal responsibility
for your own actions and anything that may happen
to you as a result of another person's actions.
B) You agree to hold Spectrum Motorcycle Club,
its organizers, officers, and all participants
harmless in any case of loss.
C) You have discussed
everything above with your family, heirs, and/or
other interested parties, and that each of these
parties, individually

|
and/or collectively has
accepted that you could possibly be hurt, injured,
paralyzed, or killed as a result of riding a
motorcycle and/or participation in Spectrum
Motorcycle Club. Further, these parties agree
to hold Spectrum Motorcycle Club, its organizers,
officers, and all participants harmless in case
of loss.
This isn't just legalese
to protect the group from the actions of others.
It's a common sense approach to coping with the
dangers we see on a daily basis. Spectrum-MRC has
developed procedures designed to make group travel
relatively safe, but regardless of how hard we
try, nothing can keep you safe in every possible
situation.
Personal
Responsibility
It's important for
each and every individual who participates in
any Spectrum-MRC event to recognize their personal
responsibility. First, You will be held responsible
for your personal behavior and the safe operation
of your motorcycle. If you think a situation isn't
safe, or if an individual or the group appears
do be doing something you don't feel comfortable
with, you MUST "opt out". This isn't to say that
you have to quit the group, stop riding, or leave
a venue. It's really quite simple: YOU have to
do whatever it takes to make the situation safe
for YOU. As an example, if the group is riding
too fast for your skills or comfort level, you
need to slow down and ride at a rate you're comfortable
with. The group will either slow down (which is
the preferred method), or the group will continue
ahead and you can meet them at the next scheduled
stop.
When it comes down to it,
YOU are the only person who can be responsible
for your personal well-being and the safety and
security of your person or equipment. YOU are
the one riding your motorcycle. YOU are the only
one who can ride away from a bad situation. YOU
are the only one who can act appropriately to
an emergency.
We encourage all our members
to be properly licensed and carry liability and
personal injury insurance as an absolute minimum.
If you don't have a license in your state, your
fellow members will help you get one. If you don't
have insurance, please ride in very far in front
of me!
Finally
All of us genuinely
hope you'll become a member of Spectrum Motorcycle
Club. Meet us for coffee, come on a ride, attend
a meeting. If you don't see something you like,
let us know what's missing.
We look forward to meeting
you!
