THE
COMPANY: Icon
In just a single year since its inception,
Icon has shown up on the motorcycle communitys
scene with a style rarely witnessed. Their innovative
fashions make use of colorful palettes and unusual
materials in unique applications, which have garnered
the attention of many for this newcomer in riding
gear.
I certainly was intrigued
with their product line when it was first introduced
a little over a year ago with offerings such as
jackets, boots, helmets, riding trousers and gloves.
So much so, that I purchased a few items from
their line-up directly from an online e-tailer.
Items ordered were a pair of their Tarmac
Gloves, Super-Duty
Boots and TiMax
Mesh Jacket.
THE
REVIEW: Icon Super-Duty Boots
I was in the market for a half motorcycle
boot that would be as comfortable on the bike
as off and not look as if Id just walked
off the set of a Terminator movie. These street
boots as Icon bills them, seemed just the
ticket, promoting comfort, style and protection.
Reminiscent of the old waffle-stompers
from my high school years, these sueded ankle
boots were doomed to the back of the closet the
moment I slipped them onto my feet. Perhaps its
because they are mainly constructed out of a suede-like
plastic upper, which didnt seem to want
to give or conform to my feet, or maybe because
I had to loosen the laces all the way to the base
in order to slip them on. Or could it be that
they squeaked with each step I took? Hard to say.
It could also have to do with the fact that after
only 3 uses, the seam at the top where the padded
fabric and shoe upper met started coming apart.
Oh, and did I mention that Chinese footbinding
would be more comfortable?
Want a pair of good quality,
stylish demi boots? Look elsewhere.
